Inspect your roof in winter to prevent ice dams

Ice dams are formed when snow and ice accumulate on a roof but do not properly drain. The resulting leaks can create water damage, wood rot and mold.

Accumulating snow may not immediately give evidence of leaking, but it can build up over time and lead to wood rot, mold and more.

Winter can create havoc everywhere, especially on our rooftops. In the Midwest, ice dams can form on the edge of a roof, creating a frozen barrier that prevents melting snow from draining. Sometimes water backs up and seeps under the shingles. This drip, drip, drip may be noticed immediately or over time. If you’re experiencing leaks, it may be an ice dam. We’ll inspect it for free. If you’ve seen no leaks but want to make sure there’s no blockage, we’ll also be happy to check for no charge. Let us know how we can be of service today.
